The Family Tree Tour hit Charlotte, NC on May 21, 2023. The opening band for this tour was M.A.G.S

As the lights dimmed and the stage illuminated, M.A.G.S. burst onto the scene with an infectious energy that swept through the crowd. The band’s unique blend of alternative rock and indie pop resonated throughout the venue, instantly captivating everyone. From the very first note, it was clear that M.A.G.S. was here to make a statement.

Fronted by the charismatic and enigmatic vocalist Elliott Douglas, the band launched into their set with an explosive opener that set the tone for the entire night. The combination of raw talent, tight musicianship, and an undeniable stage presence made it impossible to look away. M.A.G.S. exuded an aura of confidence that was contagious, drawing the audience into their sonic world.

Throughout the performance, M.A.G.S. effortlessly showcased their versatility and range. Each song was a carefully crafted masterpiece, blending catchy melodies with introspective lyrics that resonated with the crowd. The band’s ability to seamlessly transition from upbeat, guitar-driven anthems to more introspective and introspective ballads was truly impressive, displaying their musical dexterity.

Another highlight of the evening was the incredible synergy among the band members. The chemistry between the guitarist, bassist, and drummer was apparent, as they effortlessly locked into tight grooves and executed intricate musical arrangements flawlessly. Their seamless collaboration and intuitive understanding of each other’s playing created a captivating live experience that left the audience in awe.

But it wasn’t just the music that made this concert memorable. M.A.G.S. also proved to be exceptional entertainers, engaging with the audience in between songs and exuding a genuine warmth and appreciation for their fans. The lead singer’s banter and stage presence was particularly noteworthy, as he effortlessly commanded the crowd’s attention and made everyone feel like they were part of something special.

Dayseeker

Dayseeker took the stage next with their song ” Gates Of Ivory” from their 2019 album Sleeptalk. The purple and green hues throughout their set definitely gave it a moody/retro feel. Frontman, Rory Rodriguez really commands the stage with his stellar range going between beautiful melodies and heartfelt screams like on Dreamstate and Neon Grave which he dedicated to his late father who passed in 2021. In fact, the newest album Dark Sun was mainly written about his father and what Rory was going through. The heartfelt emotions can definitely be seen throughout the set. Dayseeker played 10 songs which was a relief since they weren’t headlining. I am sensing a headlining tour from the band due to their extensive catalog now after releasing 5 albums now. Overall, this was my second time seeing the band live, and hope to catch them on a headlining tour in the near future!

Sleeping With Sirens

The last time I caught a Sleeping With Sirens show was probably during Vans Warped Tour when they just released their 3rd album “Feel”. Now they are up to 7 albums with no signs of slowing down! I was completely impressed with Kellin Quinn’s ability to command the stage so well after so many years of touring and performing. The band opened up with an older fan favorite “Tally It Up, Settle The Score” which really gave me nostalgia from my early 20s. The audience sang their hearts out and surfed through the entire set, I felt like I had to watch my back the whole time as everyone wanted to slap Kellin’s hand. Sleeping With Sirens played 15 songs across their discography including 2 acoustic songs in the middle of the set and ended the show with 2 encores “Do It Now Remember It Later” and “If You Can’t Hang” which the whole venue sang along to beautifully. I expect to see this band play/tour for another 10 years to come and hope to catch them again soon as it was definitely a night to remember.
