Today we will go through and round up the news we saw all over social media from across different genres of music. In some areas where it’s gray and cold outside, the internet seemed lively and active. Thanks to our new ‘throw away’ twitter account, @SLMAGfollowsyou, we saw so much happen today! Let’s get into some stuff that went down.

Palaye Royale x ‘Black Parade’ Engineer

Palaye Royale mentioned today in a live chat with Rock Sound that the engineer for My Chemical Romance’s record ‘Black Parade’ will be working with them on their next record. Click the Rock Sound name above to watch the whole thing and check out the MCR bit below and hear who it is!:

David Bowie 71st Birthday, “Let’s Dance- Demo”

Today was also the would-be birthday of the late rock icon David Bowie. Bowie died in January of 2016 due to liver cancer he had battled for 18 months. In fact, in just two days, the 2 year anniversary of his passing will be here.

He was honored today with a demo for the song ‘Let’s Dance- Demo’. You can check out that stream below:

Girl Performs Asking Alexandria Song On Brazil’s “The Voice”

It’s becoming more and more common to see popular talent shows have people audition for them using non-traditional songs. Recently we have seen Bring Me The Horizon get used and now today someone auditioned for Brazil’s version of ‘The Voice’ singing Asking Alexandria’s “Moving On”. You can check out the insane performance below:

Chris Brown Drops Freestyle While Dropping #2

That’s right. We remember Garrett Russell being on the toilet when Silent Planet won an APMA this past summer, but no one we have seen recently dropped some bars let alone tweeting it. Chris Brown did just that, call it ‘Brown Dropping Browns’? I’ll see myself out while you check it below:

The Weeknd Parts Way With H&M

The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, has pulled his partnership with the retailer after a new hoodie promoted on the website feature a young black boy with something very suggestive written on it. The relationship began in 2017 and he tweeted out his departure today:

We certainly don’t blame him for making the move as whoever was in charge of that design and marketing should’ve thought a little harder before releasing that on the internet.

The retailer did respond to the backlash:

“We sincerely apologize for offending people with this image of a printed hooded top. The image has been removed from all online channels and the product will not be for sale in the United States.”

There ya have it. Some newsworthy things we caught today that you may have or may not have known about. Follow Soundlink Magazine on all social accounts @soundlinkmag and on Spotify soundlinkmagazine.
