Silverstein LIVE in Charlotte NC

Just like that! Silverstein turns 25 this year as a band. It’s amazing to have such stamina as a band, especially in the scene market, but Silverstein always proved to deliver hit after hit, album after album, making them very successful over the years. Silverstein decided to also bring legendary Post-Hardcore band Thursday for the ride as they have technically been a band longer despite their short hiatuses.

I can’t say that I have the most extensive knowledge of the band Thursday other than they are one of the pioneers of the genre that we all love today in the Post-Hardcore realm. The band starts off their set with a song I was unfamiliar with coming from the album “A City By The Light Divided” ( The Other Side of the Crash). I always appreciate bands opening with a less obvious song, especially for someone like me who isn’t an experienced fan of the band. Frontman Geoff kept me entertained with his infectious energy on the stage. They played familiar tracks from their popular albums Full Collapse / War All The Time such as Cross Out The Eyes, Signals Over The Air, and my personal favorite which they played towards the end of their set (Understanding In A Car Crash). The energy from the fans was definitely fueled by the band as I had to dodge the surfing from the crowd. I will definitely have to dig back into their discography to get more familiar with their other albums as I really enjoyed their set.

It was time for the moment we were all waiting for to celebrate 25 years of a legacy with Silverstein. The large LED panels played a very cool fan-dedicated intro depicting the inception, short history, and gratitude the band had for all the fans. It was a nice touch for the band to put this short video for such a milestone year as a band. Given that I know most of their material, I was very curious about what the band would open their set with. As expected, Silverstein is also promoting the release of their new album which is part of a double release for 2025. Silverstein opened with the catchy track Skin & Bones which is featured on the first of two albums titled “Antibloom” which is due to release on 2/21. They played a second track from that album to keep the interest going and then started to sprinkle songs from their huge discography to get old and new fans engaged in their set. Lead singer Shane Told made sure to play ALL of the classics that we all grew to love over the years including at least one song from every album the band has released. The band made sure to end their epic set with the first song from their debut album Smashed Into Pieces/ Bleeds No More. I wish this band nothing but success and one can hope for at least another decade of awesome material and touring if their health permits. Can’t wait for the next time they come back to Charlotte. Make sure to check out their double album this year for some awesome hits!
