The crowd gathered on August 4th, 2021 at Cat’s Cradle in NC for post-hardcore band Alesana’s sold-out show, the first of their anniversary tour for ten years of their hit album The Emptiness. The band originally being from the Raleigh area no doubt contributed to ticket sales for this event. The show was organized by CWM Events, an event organization out of Raleigh.

First up was the popular local band A Light Divided. They definitely brought the energy and really kicked off the night. The vocalist mentioned missing her right contact lens and thanked the band for putting up with her, but that definitely didn’t slow her down. She put on an absolutely fierce performance.

Next up was Veio from Portland, OR. This was their first show back since COVID, and their first time playing the songs from their newest album live. They performed a solid set, continuing the night on a high note.

Post-Hardcore band Picturesque took the stage next, which was personally the highlight of my evening. Vocalist Kyle Hollis was a true force of nature, never stopping for more than a couple of seconds at a time. He was very engaging with the crowd and even jumped out into the photo pit twice. They performed a lively set of a variety of songs from their previous albums, including Holding Me Down and Fake Fiction.

Finally, the moment came that most people had been waiting for, and Alesana certainly did not disappoint. The crowd became pure energy, first chanting “Alesana” until they came out, and then screaming every song lyric along with the band. It was truly an amazing experience to be a part of. They clearly had the most energetic performance of the night, which was no easy feat. If the first night of their anniversary tour is any indication of how the rest will go, do not miss it if you get a chance to experience it!
